Monte Vista Presbyterian Preschool offers play-based learning opportunities for children 2 to 5 years old.
Our 2-year-old Little Deer class is our youngest group of friends. In this class, we introduce a letter a week. This class is also exposed to a color, shape, and number each month. We do this through games and stories. Our Little Deers focus most on socialization. They are learning to take turns and play well with others. There are also lots of sensory activities to grow these little minds.
Our 3-year-old classes begin recognizing their letters and numbers. They are also differentiating between shapes and colors. These classes focus on building their vocabulary. They are learning to use words to solve problems. They also spend lots of time developing their fine-motor skills. The Bunny and Red Fox classes like coloring, painting, cutting, and gluing.
Our 4-year-old class is our Pre-K group. These children are learning to name and write letters and numbers. At this age, children enjoy creating games with their imaginations. They work with friends to make rules for these games. Our Raccoon Class spends time fine-tuning skills with activities like coloring, painting, cutting, and gluing.
Similar to TK, our Kindergarten Readiness class focuses on reading and writing skills. They learn number sense and incorporates more STEM learning. This class will fully prepare your child for kindergarten. Our Owl class is Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. If you are interested in learning more about our Kindergarten Readiness class, call Miss Reese at 805-499-6610.
After our morning preschool classes, we offer Lunch Bunch and Afternoon Enrichment classes. These are available five days a week. Lunch Bunch starts at noon and ends at 1:00 pm. After the children finish eating, they get to play on the playground. Afternoon Enrichment is from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Afternoon Enrichment class options rotate every two months.
We offer so many programs at Monte Vista Presbyterian Preschool because we know that every child is unique. In addition, we understand that every child learns differently, so we focus on playing games and having a variety of center opportunities. It is important to learn letters and numbers, but we know that young children learn best when they are given the chance to grow socially through play.
